Managing the Place: Service
UCI launched the University Circle Improvement District (UCID) in 2008 to widen and diversify its service offerings throughout University Circle and beyond in maintaining a clean, safe, and attractive district. UCI has created and implemented a new portfolio of services to accommodate the needs of its members, partners, and broader community, offering a variety of shared and fee-based services that include the University Circle Police Department, the University Circle Ambassadors, cooperative purchasing, the Uptown Business Partners Association, vehicle maintenance, and marketing.
The UCPD is a national model for community policing for UCI’s 40 member institutions that each pay a voluntary assessment for this service.
The University Circle Ambassadors are a growing team assembled by UCI to keep University Circle a safe, clean, and attractive place.
The Uptown Partners Business Association is a committed group of individuals in the Uptown district (University Circle, Little Italy, Buckeye-Shaker, Glenville, Hough, and Fairfax) who promote and support businesses in University Circle and its contiguous neighborhoods to increase profitability and enhance the quality of life for our community.
The Finance Department oversees UCI’s annual budget of $8 million and endowment of more than $14 million, ensures the fiscal responsibility of the organization, and provides assistance to all departments.
